休斯顿METRO的“New Bus Network”近期招募暑期(6月15至8月15日)双语小时工“Field Customer Information Representative”,如汉语、越南语及西班牙语。起薪每小时$15,经过 一二周培训后时薪可升至$20。有高中毕业学历或大学新生就可以申请,非常适合寻求打工机会的学生,但必须有德州驾照哦。

Basic Functions


This is a Temporary/Contract position starting June 15, 2015 through August 15, 2015.

Pay: $15.00/hr. during New Bus Network Training; $20.00/hr. while working field assignment(s) after completion of training.


METRO’s Board of Directors approved a complete revamp of the local bus system after an almost two year planning process called Transit System Reimagining. A comprehensive marketing and public education plan has been developed to raise awareness about METRO’s “New Bus Network” and educate existing METRO customers on how to use the new bus system.

Through primarily on bus engagement and transit center outreach, Field Customer Information Representatives will notify METRO customers about upcoming bus route changes that will go into effect August 16, 2015. Field Customer Information Representatives will work at different field locations and engage METRO customers on buses, METRO transit center facilities and/or community centers.



Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

  • Ride METRO bus routes during weekday and weekend peak travel times to announce upcoming route changes and provide new bus route information to METRO customers.


  • Announce upcoming route changes and provide new bus route information to METRO customers at METRO transit centers and key transfer areas.


  • Promote benefits of the “New Bus Network” including high frequency corridors and expanded weekend service.


  • Provide general information and answer general questions about METRO’s “New Bus Network” including new route names/numbers, how to get to major destination/activity centers, and new bus stop/shelter locations.


  • Provide trip planning assistance to METRO customers using the “New Bus Network” map and schedules at community information sessions and community events/activities.


  • Flexibility to work weekends and other varied shifts as assigned.


  • Adheres to all policies, procedures and provisions of the company and department.


  • Meets acceptable productivity level for position.


  • Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.



Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements:


High school education and two years college level work or equivalent and at least two years experience working in a similar customer service related field is desirable. Commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of college level work. Spanish, Chinese and Vietnamese language skills a plus.


Minimum three (3) years of related experience in a customer service field; Must possess effective public relations skills and professionalism in order to interact with customers in a courteous manner that positively represents METRO. Ability to effectively interact with the general public including the elderly, disabled, and persons with varied learning proficiencies. Experience and patience dealing with potentially irate customers. Ability to convey information concisely and easy to understand. Ability to communicate with all levels of individuals in person using tact and diplomacy. Ability to read maps and schedules and communicate key message points.

Requires a valid Texas driver’s license. Excellent communication (written/verbal) skills. Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese a plus. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently. Knowledge of personal computers and related software; Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to work for extended periods of time outside and/or riding buses. Field Customer Information Representatives will be required to complete a minimum two-week training class on METRO’s “New Bus Network” including soft skills training and training on general METRO information.



Additional Information:

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas has a zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy for all employees. All internal and external applicants will be required to undergo drug testing before employment and will be subject to further drug and/or alcohol testing throughout their employment.

Further, employees who perform safety-sensitive functions will submit to drug and/or alcohol testing in accordance to the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulatory requirements.


A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check is required prior to the placement of any individual in a position that requires the operation of a METRO revenue or non-revenue vehicle on behalf of METRO:

Disqualifying Criteria:

Two or more DUI or DWI convictions with no time limit;

Any DUI or DWI convictions within the preceding three (3) years; invalid, suspended, or revoked drivers' license and no more than two (2) moving violations in the past three (3) years. No job related felony/misdemeanors. Criminal convictions are reviewed on a case by case basis and the job relatedness is determined by METRO.
